Food Ministry at The Bridge
Food Ministry at The Bridge began out of Seneca Center in 2010. Students at Buena Vista University saw the need for food and took the initiative to request the leftover food from their university kitchen to be utilized at the center. These students started to show up at Seneca Center during the after-school program with large containers of food. Then, miraculously, God literally brought people to the doorstep of Seneca Center, who were hungry and had somehow heard of the food availability. The amount of food coming in always perfectly matched the need. Eventually, the amount of people served grew, and it was clear that another facility was needed. The United Methodist Church stepped into partnership with this Food Ministry. This supportive congregation, wonderful kitchen, and numerous volunteers have been a true blessing. This ministry makes good use of leftover food, which would otherwise be thrown away. To this day, God has always provided the right amount to meet the needs each week!
Food Distribution is held on Mondays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm out of the church kitchen. People are welcome to come and pick up bags of food as needed.
